Me as a Junior, “i’m going to take tons of APs next year because THEN i’ll show colleges I’m serious”
Me as a senior: fail AP stat midterm. good call, Junior mike
Oh for shame. I’m having such difficulty studying for these things, the old people at school call “midterms”. What would I rather be doing right now? Death. Oh kay that’s a little rash but ‘tis quite a bad situation I’m in. I’ve spent about 30 minutes on Psychology - not really learned anything new, four hours on Environmental Science - not retaining much,...
Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission
Uh…If you’re looking for a concise way of capturing today’s Supreme Court decision, how about: “we are all royally, hopelessly fucked for the rest of recorded time”. It’s a bit course, I know, but it does the trick. In one swoop, the court did away with nerely everything in federal campaign finance law, allowing corporations free reign to inject as much money as...
Scott Brown Beats Martha Coakley in Mass. Election
Vishal Bhatty: It was a good speech, but nothing special. Next few weeks are going to be filled with Democrats trying to rush the healthcare bill to completion while using every underhanded tactic short of physical sabotage to prevent brown from entering the Senate building.
Michael Sanduski: Yup, i'm curious whether the House is just gonna rush the senate version or actually do the right thing and wait until Brown is sworn in. Just got to hope that Browns swift swearing in won't be contested.
Michael Phillips: Ooh rah
Vishal Bhatty: Actually, I think they'll let brown swear in. If they tried to pull any tactic now, the public will be in an uproar in moments, and any partisan rift will get much, much deeper.
Michael Sanduski: Mike I hate to tell you this but you and your family are the very demographic that's going to get screwed the absolute most by this plan...
Michael Phillips: Well, Mike, my dad's a doctor. But we realize that there are people out there who are not in the same income situation as we are, who are getting sick or dying because their insurance companies drop them. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this to you guys; I'm a liberal democrat, of course we disagree! But I just realized that it's stupid of me to try to impress my political opinions via Facebook status. It's not achieving nor is it proving anything. So i'll end with this- I hope that Scott Brown is a good senator. I also hope that he will not simply vote against or for something just because of his party affiliation. By the way, in his acceptance speech, he said that both of his daughters were "available" in case anyone watching the news in America wanted a date. I know. He's hilarious AND classy.
Kayla Curran: bahahahahahaha
A day spent exhausted
It was one of those days where you doze off in class every 46 seconds, stage 1 sleep, I believe it’s called. Had two (2!) cinnamon bun rolls today - one after breakfast, one for lunch. Very unhealthy. In English I got a text from Luke regarding how he wants the track team to start getting in shape for the season. After the cinnamon rolls, I felt guilty. A little.
Putting it out there; why...
Today was relativly uneventful. While mom and dad were in the city, I went to town to get a paper. Instead, I bought a sandwitch. Government project tonight. Bring it.
